What does Teshuvah mean?
Teshuvah means repent, confess, cleanse — turn back to the Heavenly Father who LOVES you!
The lie of Satan within the church: Once you have accepted Jesus Christ by His grace as your Saviour and made Him your Lord by faith, you can continue living without cleansing. This is from the father of lies, who is deceiving many Christians and leading them away from the Narrow Way.
Teshuvah fully believes in what Jesus commands in His Word: confess with your mouth and have remorse in your heart. He is faithful and just to FORGIVE us our sins.
Yes, beloved of Jesus, we all fall SHORT of perfection compared to Christ our Lord. Therefore, we NEED the precious BLOOD of the Lamb.
Teshuvah shouts out: Return to God! Forgive to be forgiven, and live a life of repentance.
What we believe
As Teshuvah Family Church, we believe:
Jesus Christ, fully God and fully human
The true deity and humanity of the Lord Jesus Christ — Jesus is fully God and was fully human.
The atonement of the Cross
The atonement made on the Cross by our Lord Jesus for the sin of the world. Amazing Grace.
The Holy Spirit
The person of the Holy Spirit as one who sanctifies, sets apart, empowers and imparts spiritual gifts to the church. We believe in the fruits and works of the Holy Spirit.
The Bible
The Bible is the inspired Word of God and is authoritative in all matters of faith and practice.
Salvation by grace
Salvation comes only through His amazing grace (John 3:16), by faith in Jesus Christ.
Believer's baptism
The immersion of believers as the only scriptural form of baptism. You must be born again through water (fully wet: Baptizo) and Spirit to see and enter the Kingdom of heaven.
The Pre-Tribulation Rapture
We are looking forward to our Bridegroom who will come to meet us in the air, on the clouds, to escape all things to come (Luke 21:36).
Our aims as a church family
- To glorify God and be an expression of His character and Kingdom in the world, in His Name.
- Frequent praise and worship to the King — fast and pray, sound biblical teaching and fellowship.
- To encourage partnership as the body of Christ, in the mutual care of each other's spiritual and physical well-being. We hope to live in peace as much as possible.
- To engage in the task of mission to the local community, the nation and the world (Matt. 28:19-20).
- In every possible way, to make disciples of Jesus Christ and bring them into His body, then to grow in faith by daily repentance (Teshuvah) and a growing relationship with our Heavenly Father.
Who is pastoring Teshuvah
Born and raised in South Africa, with Afrikaans as my first language, my life took a transformative turn when I embraced the redemption offered by the Blood of Jesus Christ. I got saved due to His loving grace, the precious gift from God our Father. This pivotal moment led me to become born again (John 3) — a new creation in Christ my Lord, because worthy is the Lamb of God.
Married to a loving wife, Liezl, with two children as a blessing from above, we are a close-knit family united in our love for Jesus from Nazareth. In January 2019 we relocated to New Zealand, where my passion for Jesus soon led to a home group. As the home group grew, and responding to Father-God's call for me to be a shepherd for His sheep, Teshuvah Family Church was born and is slowly growing.
My personal aim is to shine His Light in a dark world of lies and deception inside the church arenas — to help, via the Holy Spirit, to get oil back into the lamps of the foolish virgins. As per numerous Scriptures: Jesus is looking for willing and obedient Christians that choose not to be part of the world, but part of His body.
